"A Creed To Live By" Nancy Sims
Just wanted to share this post that someone shared on my friends' list on Facebook. Hope everyone enjoys it.
"Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different that each of us are special. "
"Don't set your goals by what other people deem important. Only do what is best for you."
"Don't take for granted the things closet to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life, for without them life is meaningless."
"Don't let life slip through your fingers by living in the past or in the future. By living one day at a time you live all days of your life."
"Don't give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying."
"Don't be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect. It is the fragile thread that binds us to each other."
"Don't be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave."
"Don't shut love out of your life by saying it is impossible. The fastest way to lose love is to hold to it tightly, and the best way to keep love is to give it wings."
"Don't dismiss your dreams. To be without dreams is to be without hope, to be without hope is to be without purpose."
"Don't run through life so fast that you forget not only where you have been but also where you are going. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savoured each step of the way." ~ Positive Thoughts

Fearless
Fearless: adj. - without fear; afraid of nothing; brave; daring. SYN. intrepid, courageous, dauntless
I read an article on yesterday from the August issue of Essence entitled "The Art of Living Fearlessly." The article spoke of living a life where there are no boundaries, no limits to what a person can do. Some of the subjects of the article (whose names have been changed) spoke of how they had to conquer fear in order to live a fearless life. What I liked about what one of them said was that she did not want to have a life of regrets. I began to think, while reading this article, how my own life is full of regrets up to this point - regrets of missed opportunities, regrets of not believing in myself, regrets of not taking a chance, regrets of listening to others when I should have listened to my inner voice, and regrets of not starting my businesses sooner. As the list continued on & in more details, I decided that I will not have anymore regrets. I don't want to get to the end of my life and wondered whether I could have had that dream home, that dream car (Remini Red Range Rover Sport HSE), have those dream business relationships, or a list of other "what ifs". As the article stated, "There are no guarantees-but life is about having big dreams, taking the risk to pursue those dreams, and then seeing them through to the end." How would you live your life fearlessly from this day forward? Until next time.
"The fearless are merely fearless. People who act in spite of their fears are truly brave." Author Unknown

"Independence"
Independence: n. - the condition of being independent; freedom from the control, influence, support, or help of others
As we celebrate this Independence Day, we honor & celebrate those who have sacrificed for us to enjoy this freedom. As many of us are getting together for cookouts and family gatherings, let's not forget the true meaning of independence. Many have died for the opportunity for us to worship the way we want, to have the freedom to be anything we want, and to be able to do anything we want; however we want, whenever we want, wherever we want.
As I reflect on this Independence Day, I'm looking inward to what does independence mean for me. What type of independence am I celebrating? I'm celebrating the independence of being a business owner, freedom from the control of others' thoughts and opinions, freedom from excess weight, freedom from dead relationships, freedom from brokenness, freedom from religion, freedom from lack of self-knowledge, and freedom from lack & poverty. These types of freedom can only be obtained through self-evaluation, discipline, and the desire to own your own destiny. Think about your own independence day. What individual independence are you celebrating today? Please share. Until next time.

"Resilience"
Resilience: n. the power of springing back; Figurative, the power of recovering readily; buoyancy; cheerfulness
Often in life there are circumstances and situations that occur that will have your head spinning. You wonder "What happened?", "Did I miss something?", "Who the hell are you?", and "How did I get here?" It's often not easy to answer these and many other questions or to even assess the situation with a level head. We frequently go along in life just living, existing and not being fulfilled; then, you get sideswiped or knocked off your ass for you to get a wake up call. What is it that you need to spring back from, to recover from - the loss of a job, a broken marriage or relationship, the death of a loved one, insecurity, low self-esteem?
Whatever IT is, know that you have the power within to be resilient. Resiliency doesn't come from someone else, a job, a relationship, or things. It is a deep knowing from within that no matter what you've gone through in your life, YOU have the power to bounce back. I learned that myself, the hard way, but it was a lesson worth learning. Until next time.

"Hope"
Hope: n., v. - a feeling that what one desires will happen; syn. expectation, anticipation, optimism; the ground for expecting something desired; promise: to desire very much; to look with expectation
I recently read several articles concerning the outlook of the economy, jobs, and the housing market. When reading these articles, one cannot help but wonder when will all of this end, when will things get better for everyone. There has been several opinions, reports, and suggestions as to why things are the way they are, but I haven't heard the one thing that makes the difference-taking personal responsibility. When I look at taking personal responsibility for my life in whatever condition it may be in, it gives me hope that I can change what I don't like. My life is not controlled by someone else, (despite what we may think), it is controlled by my thoughts and actions. Because of this I now have the hope I need to change my situation for the better. Many people are hoping for things to get better, for circumstances and situations to turn around, but the greatest change is in thyself, where true hope lies. The hope that we are all seeking lies within and only then will things begin to get better.
